Title: Drilling into a nucleus with deeply virtual Compton scattering
Abstract: Deeply Virtual Compton Scattering (DVCS) is one of the cleanest electromagnetic probe to study single parton interactions. In such a process, a highly virtual photon interacts with the single constituent of the target whose partonic content can be described through the formalism of Generalized Parton Distributions (GPDs). In this talk we will see how to build theoretical models able to describe the partonic structure of a typical atomic nucleus, i.e. 4He, accounting for a realistic treatment of nuclear effects. In this framework, we will show the results of our phenomenological approach to describe the GPDs of the whole nucleus and the partonic content of the bound proton accessed in DVCS. Finally, we will show the future perspectives of these studies and how such models can be used to obtain reliable predictions in view of the future experiments foreseen at Jefferson Lab and at the Electron-Ion Collider.
