Kent Hammack brings extensive experience in facilities management to Jefferson Lab
NEWPORT NEWS, VA – The U.S. Department of Energy's Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility has selected Kent Hammack as director of its Facilities Management & Logistics Division.
Hammack is a civil and environmental engineer and 24-year U.S. Coast Guard veteran, looking forward to the next stage of his career.
He states “It is an exciting time at Jefferson Lab, and I am excited to be leading an extraordinary team of talented and dedicated professionals committed to supporting the Lab’s growth.”
“As the Lab continues to grow, new opportunities to solve new challenges will present themselves. The Facilities Management and Logistics team will continue to meet those challenges by providing well planned and soundly engineered designs, preventative and corrective maintenance, and support solutions executed in a safe manner.” Hammack shared.
Hammack brings a wealth of experience working with customers to define project requirements. He has proven successful in the management of maintenance on buildings, roads, grounds, airfields and utility systems. He has overhauled environmental programs while being able to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
His success in multiple projects led to him being selected to join the Engineering Services Division—Facilities Management Branch of the U.S. Coast Guard Shore Infrastructure Logistics Center. In this role he developed asset-management strategies for the entire Coast Guard.

Among many other highlights in this tour of duty, he also served as a subject matter expert for the desk-reference guide on facility-engineering management for facility managers across the Coast Guard.
Hammack holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering from Old Dominion University. He also holds dual master’s degrees in both business administration and civil engineering.
