Medical expenses for work-related injuries are covered by workers' compensation insurance which is provided by the Lab. Employees have some responsibilities under workers' compensation, and those begin with timely reporting of injuries, seeking care promptly and following the physician's directions. Occupational Medicine provides case management and coordination of work restrictions with your supervisors.
People frequently recover faster from illness and injury if they return to work promptly with appropriate modified duty. Recovery is faster if our customary routines (including work) are maintained to the greatest extent possible. Therefore, JLab uses case management as a tool to hasten recovery and to be a good steward of our resources.
For more information about our practices, off-site physician referrals, treatment, and coordination of work restrictions after you return from an injury, please refer to ES&H Manual chapter 6800 Appendix T2: Injuries and Illnesses Requiring First Aid or Emergency Medical Response.
